Flexible Service System (FSS): based on driving conditions and service indicator will illuminate when due. This system is used on current models and is a cost saving feature. It uses long life engine oil. We have Mercedes diagnostic equipment plus Autologic and Bosch to allow us full coverage and to provide cost effective, accurate fault diagnosis. Brake fluid should be renewed every two years. Air conditioning should be serviced every two years as odours can build up in the system and it also needs cleansing and checking that it is working effectively. Also, the gas dissipates over time and requires topping up "My cars have been serviced and looked after by Car-Nect for nearly twenty years. Common Faults with Mercedes Cars 3.0 cdi (diesel) engine found across the model range: diagnostic test shows swirl flap control faults. Remedy: swirl flap unit requires replacement as it may have become blocked with carbon deposits which stops it moving freely and damages the motor control unit. A Class rough running and poor idle, holding back and poor fuel consumption: may show an air flow meter fault on the diagnostic test. Remedy: renew the air flow meter along with the engine control unit (ECU) as they are in one housing. Part is readily available re-manufactured. Sprinter ABS fault. Diagnostic test will show it as a return pump fault (C1401). Remedy: replacement of ABS unit/pump. E Class & S Class: both models suffer with dash cluster illumination faults: the dash back lighting ceases to illuminate and often the dash/instrument cluster requires replacement. A Class automatic gearbox fault: the “F” warning light appears on the dashboard and the gear changes feel as if they are banging into gear and are not smooth. Remedy: the automatic gearbox control unit may be faulty. E220, E270 & E320 models: intermittent loss of power and if you turn the vehicle off and on again the fault disappears. However, it will develop into a permanent fault in time. Remedy: they are prone to turbo actuator faults. A diagnostic test should recognize this fault. Sprinter Cdi 2007 onwards: prone to turbo actuator faults. Convertible Roof Faults : Usually easily rectified. |
